Go Long and Stay Hard

There’s something really modern about formalwear with long sleeves.  If Kate Moss is doing it, you know it’s an approved Look; you can bet your bottom dollar (then roll it up and snort).  Long before she graced Elle’s Body Issue, Kerry Washington tried it too.  A long sleeve dress, that is, in peach melba.  And Emmanuelle Chriqui, unsung goddess, stuns in a loose-fitting feline frock, slick ponytail, and killer hoops. So, how do you pull off a long sleeve dress?  Let’s take a few cues from the experts: 1.  Accessorize.  I’m partial to hoop earrings, but cascading chandeliers are another good option.  I still haven’t warmed up to ear cuffs, but if your gown is straight rock & roll, I’ll allow an ear cuff, but only if it’s tough and you cut a deep side part like Skrillex.  Think about being photographed from the waist up.  You don’t want to be mistaken for a 4th grade school photo–you know, the one with the turtleneck?  So, go for the gusto when it comes to jewelry. 2.  Conversely, less is more when it comes to your purse.  A geometric clutch (box, faceted jewel) or sleek envelope are the best accent to Sleevie Nicks.
